Gordon's Bay is a small idyllic seaside town on the Eastern edge of False Bay in the Western Cape, in the popular, picturesque region of Helderberg, and the winelands. It is well located, just 25 minutes from Cape Town Airport and 40 minutes from the famous "mother City of Cape Town".
The climate is Mediterranean and boasts some of the best beaches in the Cape, beautiful white sand, rock pools, shallow paddling areas and calm seas. The area's world-famous Bikini Beach has just been awarded Blue Flag status. The sea is much warmer here than you will find at Atlantic beaches such as Clifton - and the area abounds with excellent restaurants, shopping malls and amenities.
Whale watching
Between June and December each year, hundreds of Southern Right whales visit the sheltered, shallow bays of the South African coastline to calve and nurture their offspring.
Many of these massive mammals visit False Bay. Official viewing points have been established: just look for the Whale Route signposts on Clarence Drive, the coastal road leading south from Gordon's Bay.
Our residence is a 3 minute drive away from the beach and village where you can find many seaside restaurants and shops. The beaches in Gordon's Bay are counted amongst the best in the Cape with white sand and rocky pools, shallow paddling areras and calm seas. The sea is much warmer than the Atlantic coast and Bikini Beach has been awarded Blue Flag status, a rating of the highest order
This easy hike is a delightful adventure in a beautiful nature reserve. Follow the stream in the kloof (gully) between the mountians, past many crystal clear pools. Stop along the way to enjoy indiginous fynbos, to swim or bathe the sunshine on the rocks. Stop and turn back when you feel you have gone far enough - each spot along the way is beautiful enough to be the destination. You will feel spiritually refreshed.
